We aim to determine the sizes and the locations of capacitors by minimizing the voltage deviations and active power losses. For this aim, we utilized Dragonfly Optimization Model and applied on a modified real distribution system from Almaty, Kazakhstan. To be able to simulate different load conditions, we randomly created varied load conditions taking base case as reference point. Then, the capacities and node locations of capacitors providing smallest voltage deviations and active power losses are selected as solutions. From the simulation results we have observed that Dragonfly Algorithm successfully determines near-optimal locations and sizes of the capacitors. © 2020 The Institution of Engineering and Technology.eninfo:eu-repo/semantics/closedAccessCAPACITOR PLACEMENT PROBLEMDRAGON FLY OPTIMIZATION ALGORITHMOPTIMIZATIONPOWER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMOPTIMAL CAPACITOR SIZING AND PLACEMENT USING DRAGONFLY ALGORITHM: A CASE STUDY IN KAZAKHSTANConference Object2082125202010.1049/icp.2021.12762-s2.0-85138252046N/AQ4
