Conference Object Citation - Scopus: 2Busy Tone Implementation for Coexistence of Ieee 802.22 and 802.11af Systems(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2015) Karatalay, O.; Baykaş, Tunçer; Erküçük, S.; Erküçük, Serhat; Baykaş, T.In this paper, a new algorithm based on busy tone approach has been proposed for the coexistence of IEEE 802.22 and IEEE 802.11af systems in TV white space. Different from the earlier study, in addition to 802.11af access points listening to the busy tone signal, their clients also listen to the busy tone and let the access points know once they hear it. Accordingly, interference caused to 802.22 systems has been reduced. This study quantifies the improved system performance in terms of interfering packet rate for different hearing regions considering the communication parameters and channel models adapted for the standards. © 2015 IEEE.Conference Object Citation - Scopus: 3Modeling of Visible Light Channels and Performance Analysis of Aco-Ofdm(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2015) Yesilkaya, A.; Şenol, Habib; Alsan, H.F.; Panayırcı, Erdal; Miramirkhani, F.; Panayırcı, Erdal; Senol, H.; Uysal, M.Spectrum scarcity of traditional radio communication has led communication engineers to find new alternatives. Indoor visible light communication is one alternative to solve this problem since its spectrum is not regulated and it has much wider bandwidth then traditional communication systems. This increased the research done in the field of visible light communications. However a proper indoor channel model is lacking and all previous studies assumes that only additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) is present. Lack of proper channel model has motivated us to model a realistic indoor visible light channel. After modeling the indoor visible light channel, the performance of an asymmetrically clipped optical OFDM (ACOOFDM) system which is suitable for optical communications is investigated and compared to that of the AWGN optical channels. © 2015 IEEE.Conference Object Citation - Scopus: 5Spline based channel estimation for STBC-SM systems over fast-varying rician fading channels(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2015) Panayırcı, Erdal; Doğan, H.; Panayırcı, ErdalIn the STBC-SM systems, the information is carried both by STBC symbols and indices of the transmit antennas from which these symbols are transmitted. Channel estimation is a critical process at the receiver during the coherent detection of the transmitted STBC symbols and indices of the transmit antennas. In this paper, a spline interpolation and pilot symbols based channel estimation has been proposed for the space-time block coded spatial modulation (STBC-SM) systems to track the channel variations in the presence of Rician fading channels. The estimation of channel at pilot durations is done by least squares (LS) method and then the spline based channel interpolation is performed. It has been shown via computer simulations that the proposed spline based channel estimation channel estimation outperforms the piecewise linear interpolation (PLI) and the nearest neighbor interpolation (NNI) based channel estimations. © 2015 IEEE.
