Review Citation - WoS: 2Management of Non-Wood Forest Products in Turkey(KAHRAMANMARAS SUTCU IMAM UNIV, 2018) Ok, Kenan; Tengiz, Yusuf ZiyaNon-wood forest products are specific goods or services which are considered as out of wood raw materials found in nature. Some of the products are cultivated because of their high demand and produced with agricultural practices. Thyme used in herbal teas and primrose used widely as an ornamental plant are significant examples of plants both collected from nature and have agricultural production in Turkey. However most of the non-wood forest products are still consumed by collecting them from nature. Turkey has a great capacity on non-wood forest products due to the advantage provided by high biodiversity. Additionally people in Turkey has a wide range of experience on the utilization of wild plants and there is a significant diversity of use of non-wood forest products as a result of geographical location and historical heritage. Despite these advantages it is difficult to mention that sustainable management of non-wood forest products is totally guaranteed in Turkey as is the case in many other countries. The capacity of non-wood forest products in Turkey was introduced in this study. Institutional structure responsible for the management of non-wood forest products has been explained. The place of non-wood forest products in country plans and legislations regulating the ways of utilizing them were presented. As a result although richness of non-wood forest products have been discovered and an institutional structure responsible for the diversity of these products have already been established it was found that a way of planning and management structure ensuring the sustainability for the diversity of these species is still contentious while there are deficiencies on the species-specific information and management processes.Article Citation - WoS: 20Citation - Scopus: 25Migration Asmovement Andmultiplace Life: Some Recent Developments in Rural Living Structures in Turkey(Wiley-Blackwell, 2014) Öztürk, Murat; Hilton, Andy; Jongerden, JoostDiscussing recent trends and developments in migration and mobility affecting what may be referred to as a reconstitution' of villages this paper discusses the changing character of rural settlement and settlement patterns in Turkey today. The binary division of rural and urban is questioned through a dialectical/relational approach to settlement formation while settlement is defined by relation to (human) movement itself understood as incorporating the modalities of migration and mobility. By focusing on the socio-economics of increasing affluence the advance of capital generally and the introduction of neoliberalism into agriculture in particular a number of contemporary rural-oriented (migratory/mobility) movements and living structures' are investigated which taken together suggest a growing development of dual settlement' and multiplace hybrid' life. The paper concludes with a typology of villages and some thoughts on the theoretical implications of this study. The TNM stage tumor size nuclear (Fuhrman) grade the existance of necrosis and vascular invasion are employed as the input parameters for this software to predict the recurrence probability in mentioned patients. Finaly the performance analyses are carried out to verify the reliability of the application.Conference Object Near Field Parameter Estimation of Moving Sources With Recursive Expectation Maximization Algorithm(IEEE, 2006) Cekli, Serap; Cekli, Erdinc; Kabaoğlu, Nihat; Cirpan, Hakan AliIn this paper maximum likelihood (ML) estimator is proposed for the joint estimation of the direction of arrival (DOA) and range parameters of moving sources in the near-field of the antenna array. ML estimation algorithm is presented for deterministic signal model. Recursive form of the expectation maximization (REM) algoritm is suggested for the estimation of the near-field parameters because there is not closed form solutions for the maximum likelihood functions. Moreover simulation results of the suggested algorithm are presented.Conference Object Citation - WoS: 9Citation - Scopus: 9Unconditional Maximum Likelihood Approach for Localization of Near-Field Sources in 3-D Space(IEEE, 2004) Kabaoğlu, Nihat; Çırpan, Hakan Ali; Paker, SelçukSince maximum likelihood (ML) approaches have better resolution performance than the conventional localization methods in the presence of less number and highly correlated source signal samples and low signal to noise ratios we propose unconditional ML (UML) method for estimating azimuth elevation and range parameters of near-field sources in 3-D space in this paper Besides these superiorities stability asymptotic unbiasedness asymptotic minimum variance properties are motivated the application of ML approach. Despite these advantages ML estimator has computational complexity. Fortunately this problem can be tackled by the application of Expectation/Maximization (EM) iterative algorithm which converts the multidimensional search problem to one dimensional parallel search problems in order to prevent computational complexity.
