Mobile Learning in Higher Education: a Marketing Course Design Project in Austria

The course concept introduced in this paper was implemented in 2011 in a university in Austria and shows an approach for integrating mobile learning modules in higher education. Sustainable Knowledge Management Shown in the Example of a Company Operating on the Telecommunications Market

Modern organizations are being strongly pressured to increase agility and competitiveness operate on the global market and engage in alliances. One key success factor for these organizations is the human factor. Human resource and knowledge managers line managers and team leaders are ultimately responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the organization. They are collectively responsible for the evolution of the organization in order to meet new challenges. These responsibilities can only be born if the these managers have the appropriate knowledge in their respective fields of expertise and know how to share this knowledge sustainable among each other and have an effective awareness of the need for a knowledge sharing network within the organization. In this study we develop a social media based knowledge management system for a company which operates in the telecommunications market serving a special niche market. Managers from similar disciplines contribute to the project in sharing their knowledge on social media mainly Google Plus. We develop structures for a sustainable knowledge management environment for companies in the example of managers all of who have expertise in management or information technology. Applying social media for managing knowledge could turn these managers into knowledge leaders in their organizations. The results of the forthcoming analysis will show the advantages and potential for improvement for using social media knowledge bases for knowledge exchange. (C) 2015 The Authors. Assessment of Chromite Liberation Spectrum on Microscopic Images by Means of a Supervised Image Classification

Assessment of mineral liberation spectrum with all its aspects is essential for plant control and optimization. This paper aims to estimate 2D mineral map and its associated liberation spectrum of a particular chromite sample from optical micrographs by using Random Forest Classification a powerful machine-learning algorithm implemented on a user-friendly and an open-source software. This supervised classification method can be used to accurately generate 2D mineral map of this chromite sample. The variation of the measured spectra with the sample size is studied showing that images of 200 particles randomly selected from the optical micrographs are sufficient to reproduce liberation spectrum of this sample. In addition the 2D spectrum obtained with this classification method is compared with the one obtained from the Mineral Liberation Analyzer (MLA). Although 2D mineralogical compositions obtained by the two methods are quite similar microscopic analysis estimates poorer liberation than MLA due to the residual noise (misclassified gangue) generated by the classification. Nevertheless we cannot compare the reliabilities of the two methods as there is not a standard produce yet to quantify the accuracy of MLA analysis. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Social Media Integration in Higher Education Cross-Course Google Plus Integration Shown in the Example of a Master's Degree Course in Management

Nearly all web services can be adapted for educational use Although some nistructors do use social media for their courses privacy concerns always throttle the 'need' of instructors for social media. Google Plus seems to offer the possibility to overcome this privacy issue in using a methodology to group one's contacts. The course concept shown in this contribution offers a concrete approach for integrating Google Plus functionalities in higher education and benefiting from cross-course interaction. The results of the forthcoming analysis will show advantages and potential for improvement both of the system and the use of it in higher education. (C) 2012 Published by Elsevier Ltd.
