Abstract
Many universities that resist change are missing out on the growing opportunities
people become more dynamic in an global work environment and global business interactions are easier to conduct with new technologies. Universities have to invest in new programs to differentiate themselves from others. In this study we developed a Program Design Scorecard (PDS) which can be used to develop study programs at universities for planning and implementing study programs innovatively and effectively using a structured requirements analysis for managing the program launch and the program itself. How to apply the PDS was shown in the example of a management information systems (MIS) PhD program. The results revealed that the development of an MIS design scorecard covers key factors from a management and academic perspective focusing on the interdisciplinary dimensions of MIS.
