Karakter İnşasında Arketipsel İmgeler ve The Wooster Group'ta Phaedra Örneği

Abstract

Bu tez çalışması, antik tragedyaların doğduğu mitsel hikâyelerin çağdaş dünyada ve çağdaş dünyanın nesnel koşullarında sahnelenirken nasıl olup da hala güncelliğini koruyabildiği sorusunun yanıtını onların arketipsel niteliklerinde arar ve bu vesileyle, Carl Gustav Jung'un arketip çalışmalarını araştırır. Odağını Phaedra karakterine çevirmiş olan çalışma, mitin kaynağında okunabilen anima-animus, persona, gölge arketiplerinin yanında anne ve üvey anne arketiplerini de araştırır. This thesis seeks to answer the question of how the mythical stories that gave rise to ancient tragedies can remain relevant in their archetypal qualities when staged in the contemporary world and under the objective conditions of the contemporary world, by exploring the archetypal studies of Carl Gustav Jung. Focusing on the character of Phaedra, the study explores the archetypes of anima-animus, persona, and shadow, as well as the archetypes of mother and stepmother as read in the source of the myth. This thesis, which focuses on a woman immigrant character, elaborates the archetypal critique with socio-historical research and examines the mythical and historical transformations of the myth of Phaedra in the texts of Homer, Ovid, Euripides, Seneca, and Racine. As an example of the unearthing of archetypal images in character construction, the study examines the myth of Phaedra as mythical and historical in the staging of To You, the Birdie! (Phèdre) by an American performance group, The Wooster Group. As a result, it is suggested that the mytho-historical presence in contemporary theater can also be constructed through the projection of archetypes.
