Abstract
This thesis discusses the actor's conscious decision to breathe towards the central part of her body and how it increases the body awareness, physical awareness and her overall acting capabilities. Therefore it aims to analyze the connection between the actor's body center and the breath. The body center's relationship with the respitory system is researched through datas acquired by the recent medical knowledge and the predictions made by the alternative medicinal practices. The afore-mentioned body part's relationship with the breath is specifically researched on how it affects the imaginary and imagination. This research consists of Antonio Damasio's specific studies on neuroscience and in its possible relationship with Konstantin Stanislavski's system of acting. The thesis is a suggestion for an actor on her preparations to act. The method of Theodoros Terzopolous' "physical research" and Çetin Sarıkartal's "The exercise of listening to principal nerve nodes" were taken as sample studies. Related research analyzes the connection between breathing techniques and the body center, hereby, by this research, one can conclude that through systematic breathing exercises body awareness can improve and the anxiety felt by the actors on stage can lessen.
